The
current Attorney General of the United States has promised sanctuary
cities across the nation that they will lose federal grant and
assistance money if they continue to disobey federal law and protect
illegal criminals from immigration law enforcement. So without
batting an eye, California has taken a giant step beyond the
sanctuary city declaration and has declared itself a Sanctuary State.
One only hopes that the Attorney General of the United States follows
through on his promise and allows California none of the federal
monies they have become accustomed to all these years. California is
already broke and getting broker, so withholding these funds will
hurt them.
Presently
fires are raging in northern California and as usual the state is
seeking assistance from the federal government. But given the
finger-in-the-eye that the California governor and legislature have
given to the Trump administration in Washington with its sanctuary
state decision, does the federal government owe anything to the
radical left, law-breaking Californians? Did Abraham Lincoln give any
kind of assistance to the Confederate States when they declared
independence from the union? In fact, not only was financial
assistance not given to the South, but war was declared.
When
individual citizens break the law they lose certain rights and
privileges that all citizens enjoy and exercise, so one would suggest
that until California begins obeying the law, especially in the area
of immigration law, that they forfeit their rights to have the
federal government bail them out of their troubles, which are
plentiful. From the bullet train fiasco, to their plans to eliminate
all coal-fired power plants and go to only wind and photo-cell power
in the state, to their being over-run by illegal aliens, to their
unending tax increases on its citizens, and finally with its
Sanctuary State declaration, California has made stupid decisions
that the rest of America should not have to pay for.
In
a war private citizens are often hurt by the raging battles, so it’s
regrettable that private citizens of California may be hurt by the
decisions of it’s radical government in Sacramento, but the rest of
the nation should not be responsible to fill in the gaps of
California’s radical leftist government. President Trump should
make it clear to Governor Moonbeam and the rest of the angry crowd
out there that they will have to sink or swim on their own and not
depend on funds from more responsible and law-abiding states to keep
that idiotic government afloat.
